Hallo. Willkommen bei Swift LinguistK. Mein Name ist Maria Lange. Ich bin historische Soziolinguistin und interessiere mich für alles, was mit Sprache zu tun hat. Was mir in fast 30 Jahren Lehre und Forschung in Deutschland, England und anderswo begegnet ist, möchte ich hier mit Euch teilen. Kommt mit in die Welt der Sprache – zu kuriosen Wortgebilden, merkwürdigen sprachlichen Gepflogenheiten, verbreiteten Annahmen über Sprache und was dahintersteckt.
Ich möchte mit Euch auf dieser Webseite meine Beiträge zu sprach(geschicht)lichen oder sozio-kulturellen Themen teilen. Wenn Ihr ab und zu vorbei schaut, aus reinem Spaß an der Freud‘ oder weil Ihr beim Lesen oder Anhören Euer Deutsch bzw. Englisch verbessern wollt, würde mich das sehr freuen.
Geplant ist eine zweisprachige Veröffentlichung, eines nicht zu fernen Tages inklusive gesprochener Versionen. Ich hoffe, ich kann Euch damit beim Lernen motivieren und gleichzeitig praktisches Material für Lernende und Lehrende im Bereich Deutsch-Englisch, Englisch-Deutsch liefern. Gerade für das eigenständige Lernen für Prüfungen wie TestDaF, Goethe-Zertifikat, TOEFL oder Cambridge Certificate sind kurze zweisprachige Texte schwer zu finden. Lasst mich wissen, was hilfreich ist oder was Ihr Euch hier noch wünschen würdet. Ich hoffe, Euch gefällt’s.
Hello and welcome to Swift LinguistK. My name is Maria Lange. I am a historical sociolinguist and I am interested in everything related to language. I would like to share with you what I have encountered in almost 30 years of teaching and research in Germany, England and elsewhere. Come with me into the world of language – to quaint word formations, strange linguistic conventions, common assumptions about language and what lies behind them.
On this website, I would like to share my posts on linguistic (and/or historical) or socio-cultural topics with you. I would be very happy if you would drop by from time to time, just for fun, or because you want to improve your German or English while reading or listening.
The plan is to publish in two languages, including spoken versions in the not too distant future. I hope that this will help to motivate you while learning and at the same time provide practical material for learners and teachers of German and English. Particularly for independent exam preparations such as TestDaF, Goethe-Zertifikat, TOEFL or Cambridge Certificate, short bilingual texts are difficult to find. Please let me know what is helpful or what you would like to see here. I hope you like it.
